Saffron History Saffron
is among the most valued plants in the world and has been known in iran for many centuries . Persians , in addition to exporting saffron to many parts of the ancient world introduced its properties to the Greeks , Russians , Romans, Chinese, and other nations . Given its climate, today Iran is still one of the most appropriate countries to grow saffron.Southern Khorasan region is specifically the most ideal place for the growth of saffron. There are most varieties of saffron across the world. There are 9 known varieties of saffron in Iran. Saffron is a plant which grows about 20 - 30 cm. Its underground stem is known as saffron bulb . The flower's stigma is dried and supplied to the market as saffron.

Properties of Saffron Saffron enjoys natural color , taste, and fragnance. So, it is one of the most known food additives which is widely used for giving color and flavor to various kinds of food, hors-d'oeuvres, desserts, and sweets. Saffron is energizing and refreshing . It has been known for long as a medicinal plant of much therapeutic properties. It improves function of the nervous system and heart, and stimulates the appetite . It is also used to improve vision and memory as well as for the treatment of cough and bronchitis. Consuming saffron with honey would help one to dispel kidney and bladder stones. The entire process of growing , collecting , and packaging of saffron is totally hygienic, and the product is offerd to the market with a superior quality.To ensure the optimal quality of the products and satisfy the customers' needs, we obtaind the National Iranian Standard Seal as a quality assurance. Saffron Usage:
Although saffron has been used for its charming color and unique aroma from the ancient time, recently it received well for the existing tendency to use natural additive substances instead of chemical and synthetic ones for food stuffs and beverages, and using saffron is widespread both in industry and food technology. Nowadays a great number of factories active in producing sausages, margarines, butters, cheeses, soft drinks, alcoholic drinks, jellies, ice creams, chocolates, biscuits, rock candies, sugar candies, bonbons, cakes, cookies, frying powders and so on, use saffron as an aromatic and coloring substance. We can find saffron in almost all recipes for soups, sea foods, foods made of rice, chicken foods, desserts, etc.
